বাংলায় সারাংশ (Bangla summary)

কঠিন শব্দের চেয়ে সঠিক ও স্বাভাবিক শব্দ বেশি নম্বর দেয়। collocation, topic vocabulary এবং সঠিক word form শিখুন।

By the end of this lesson you can

  • Choose precise words over general ones
  • Use common collocations accurately
  • Avoid errors in word form and spelling

Precision over decoration

Lexical Resource rewards range, precision and accuracy. "The government should build more affordable housing" is better than "The government should do more things about houses" because the words are precise.

Rare words used wrongly lower your score. "Utilise" is not better than "use", and "plethora" in the wrong sentence sounds odd.

Collocations

Collocations are words that naturally go together: make a decision, take responsibility, a heavy workload, a sharp rise, raise awareness, meet demand, pose a threat. Learning words in these pairs is the quickest way to sound natural.

Improving word choice

General: Pollution is a big problem that has bad effects on people.

Precise: Air pollution poses a serious threat to public health, particularly for children and older people.
