20 minutesIntermediateLesson 8 of 9
বাংলায় সারাংশ (Bangla summary)

সরল ও জটিল বাক্যের মিশ্রণ ব্যবহার করুন এবং ভুল কম রাখুন। নিয়ন্ত্রণ না হারিয়ে কীভাবে বৈচিত্র্য দেখাবেন।

By the end of this lesson you can

  • Use a mix of sentence structures
  • Include conditionals, passives and relative clauses naturally
  • Check articles, tenses and agreement before you finish

Range and accuracy are both scored

Range means using a variety of structures: complex sentences, conditionals, passives, relative clauses. Accuracy means how many of your sentences are error-free.

At Band 7, the descriptors expect frequent error-free sentences and a variety of complex structures. A short essay with only simple sentences will not reach that level, but neither will long sentences full of mistakes.

Structures that fit naturally

Conditionals for consequences: "If governments invested in rail, fewer people would fly." Passives for processes and general facts: "Plastic is often thrown away after one use." Relative clauses for detail: "Students who work part-time…".

Same idea, more range

Simple: Many people use cars. Cars cause pollution. The government should improve buses.

Varied: Since many people rely on cars, which are a major source of pollution, the government should improve bus services. If buses were faster and cheaper, more commuters would use them.
