Speaking Part 1: personal questions
Four to five minutes of questions about you. Answer directly, add a reason and a detail, and keep it conversational.

৪–৫ মিনিট আপনার সম্পর্কে প্রশ্ন। সরাসরি উত্তর দিন, একটি কারণ ও একটি বিবরণ যোগ করুন।
By the end of this lesson you can
- Describe what happens in Part 1
- Give answers of two to four sentences
- Handle questions you have no strong opinion about
What Part 1 is
The examiner checks your identity, then asks questions on two or three familiar topics: home, work or study, hobbies, food, weather and so on. It lasts four to five minutes.
The examiner follows a script and may interrupt to move on. That is normal and doesn't mean your answer was bad.
The right length
One-word answers don't show your English. Two-minute speeches are too long. Aim for two to four sentences: answer, reason, example or detail.
If you have no opinion, say so naturally and still extend: "I don't really think about it much, to be honest. I suppose I prefer… because…".
Short, medium, long
Too short: "Yes."
Good: "Yes, I do. I usually cook on weekends because I don't have time during the week. My favourite thing to make is chicken biryani; it takes ages, but it's worth it."
Too long: a two-minute history of cooking in your country.
