Speaking Part 2: talking for two minutes
Use your one minute of preparation well and keep talking naturally until the examiner stops you.
বাংলায় সারাংশ (Bangla summary)
এক মিনিটের প্রস্তুতি কাজে লাগিয়ে দুই মিনিট স্বাভাবিকভাবে কথা বলার কৌশল।
By the end of this lesson you can
- Make useful notes in one minute
- Organise a long turn as a short story with a beginning, middle and end
- Extend answers with detail, feelings and reasons
How Part 2 works
The examiner gives you a task card with a topic and three or four prompts. You have one minute to prepare and may make notes. Then you speak for one to two minutes; the examiner will stop you at two minutes.
Fluency and Coherence rewards speaking at length without long pauses and connecting ideas clearly. Covering every prompt is useful for structure but you are not marked down for skipping one.
Using the minute
Choose your topic in the first ten seconds — a real memory is easier to describe in detail than an invented one.
Write one or two keywords per prompt, not sentences. Add a note for the final 'explain why' prompt, because that is where you can show a range of vocabulary.
Think of your answer as a short story: set the scene, describe what happened, then reflect on why it mattered.
