Natural spoken English
Sound less like a textbook: contractions, short natural answers, and everyday phrases that make speech flow.
বাংলায় সারাংশ (Bangla summary)
বইয়ের মতো না শুনিয়ে স্বাভাবিকভাবে কথা বলুন: contractions, ছোট স্বাভাবিক উত্তর এবং প্রতিদিনের বাক্যাংশ।
By the end of this lesson you can
- Use contractions and informal linking in speech
- Replace memorised phrases with natural ones
- Give a direct answer, then add a reason and an example
Spoken English is not written English
In conversation, fluent speakers use contractions (I'm, it's, don't, I'd) and simple linking words (so, but, and, actually, to be honest). Formal words like "moreover" or "furthermore" sound strange in a chat.
Natural speakers also answer the question first. Asked "Do you like cooking?", they say "Yes, quite a lot, actually." and then explain. They do not start with "Cooking is a very important activity in human life."
Answer, reason, example
A simple shape keeps everyday answers natural and long enough: give the answer, add one reason, then add one example from your life. Three or four sentences is plenty for a Part 1 question.
Textbook versus natural
Textbook: In my opinion, reading is a beneficial hobby. Moreover, it enhances knowledge.
Natural: Yeah, I read most evenings. It helps me switch off after work. At the moment I'm reading a detective novel my sister lent me.
The natural answer is direct, uses contractions, and includes a personal detail.
